The Abyss

What is the Abyss? The Abyss is every monster that you've ever imagined. 'Shinedown' defined it beautifully: "'Cause my monsters are real, and they're trained how to kill. And there's no coming back and they just laugh at how I feel. And these monsters can fight, and they'll never say "Die", and there's no going back - if I get trapped, I'll never heal. 'Cause my monsters are real." 'Monsters' and 'Demons' are interchangeable here.

What is the Abyss? The Abyss IS the depression. You won't see it coming until you no longer have the fight...the desire...the energy... the will to escape. Submit to it, for it is invincible.

The Abyss slowly, gently, imperceptibly pulls you in. Your descent distorts into a tour of Dante's nine circles of Hell. Virgil is not your guide, but the ruler of Hell himself. A cacophony of demons begins quietly, gradually coming to a deafening crescendo as you begin to realize your destination.

The Abyss cannot be bargained with. It cannot be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity. Or remorse. And it absolutely will not stop until it kills you. It is infinitely patient. It gently beckons you, lulling you into a trance, and the waves of perceived relief wash over you. Stop resisting. Give in to the unimaginable power of The Abyss.
